What exactly does this change?
You can choose which of our server locations your browsing goes through, where free browsing uses the one nearest to you. Same proxy, same speed. It is a browser proxy, not a device VPN: traffic in other apps is unaffected.
Access is a certificate your browser holds, not a login: nothing you type signs you in, and the certificate is what the servers check.
You can attach a purchase to a forum account if you want to, and then a lost device is recoverable and you can see which devices are using it. Doing nothing keeps the anonymous version, where the recovery code you save is the only record that exists — and where losing it means losing the purchase.

An account is optional. It exists for one reason: so that losing a device does not mean losing what you paid for.
Signing in uses the VPN.free community forum, which is an account you may already have. We never see your password, and your email address stays with the forum: this site stores nothing but an opaque id that means nothing anywhere else.
Prefer to stay anonymous? Then do nothing. Buying without an account works exactly as it always has, and the recovery code you save at checkout is all you need. What you give up is this page: with no account there is nothing for us to look you up by, so a lost code cannot be recovered. That is the trade, stated plainly, and it has not changed.
